About the T-34:
The T-34/85 first appeared in late 1943. Its main feature was a larger three-man turret that mounted a ZiS-S-53 85mm gun. The radio set was also moved into the turret, giving the tank commander much improved capabilities. This T-34/85 was needed to counter the heavier Panther and Tiger tanks being fielded by Germany.
